Aside from visiting different places, I also attended the PRSSA conference. I went to nearly every session and I was networking with everyone. I loved how the sessions were given by people highly admired in the PR field. It was great to hear from such legends and it was so nice to gain information from a reliable source. They really know what they are talking about and that really shone through. On the other hand the thing I disliked the most were the times of the sessions. They were all very bunched together and I felt as though many conflicted. I wanted to go to everything, but the way it worked out I went to the ones that were most beneficial for me.
I learned how to be more social, and how to network better at all of the general sessions. We were pretty restricted to our seats because the other sessions were all lecture style. When we went to see Biz Stone, Tim Westergren, and the opening and closing ceremonies, we could talk and get to know people better. Personally I had learned what I want to do for the rest of my life. I would love to work within the fashion field and I hadn't really known this since the conference. I went to sessions about it and it just opened my eyes to this new subject. I didn't consider it before, but it just seems so different and cool to me. Professionally I had learned how to present myself to future employers, and how to direct resumes toward them. Lastly culturally I learned how even though we were still in the US, things are drastically different. I had even went to a global PR session, and things are entirely different outside of the United States.
As I said before, this conference helped refine my views of PR. I now know what I want to do, but I also learned about the different types of PR and how they all work together. When I graduate from RMU I hope to get a job within fashion or entertainment and move to California.
