Over the course of my trip, I have taken so many valuable experiences with me. I think that the most critical lesson I had learned was how to be professional and network myself. I have been put into situations in college where I've needed to present myself exceptionally well, but not like this. I was surrounded with so many people who I would love to work with some day, and it had taught me a big lesson. No matter where you are, you need to network and be professional everywhere you go. You never know if you will land your next job through an interview, or by just simply meeting someone. It is important to have your best foot forward at all times.
The best session for me throughout the conference was the Fashion segment. It was then that I realized what I want to be for the rest of my life, and that is really important to me. I was feeling so passionate about public relations at that point and I think it was beneficial for me to realize that. I can now take myself more seriously knowing what I know now. The session that I took the least from would have to have been the farewell session. I think the entire time slot was full of awards, and if people didn't enter to win anything they just sat around. Many people weren't even concentrating on the awards, and it became disrespectful. They could have done a nicer wrap-up of the events to keep everyone intrigued.
I met people from different schools across the United States, but the most important person I had met was Mitchell Friedman. I met him during his session of "IMC and the PR Professional". He gave us the opportunity to leave our business cards with him and we recently connected on LinkedIn. I am planning on moving to California soon after I graduate, and it is amazing that I already have a contact. I am grateful that he is so accessible even though he is so successful. Overall I enjoyed the entire conference, and I cannot wait for next years!
